Having visited Auschwitz twice - once with my family and once with local schools - I am saddened that the Jews, who suffered unbelievable levels of persecution during the Holocaust, could within a few years of liberation from the death camps be inflicting atrocities on Palestinians in the new State of Israel and continue to do so on a daily basis in the West Bank and Gaza.

Lib Dem MP David Ward (news: Lib Dems condemn MP’s criticism of Israel ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day).

Siege, capture, massacre and eventual Cannibalism. For details read this article.

We in Pakistan like to support Muslims around the world until they are Shia’t Muslims getting butchered inside Pakistan! Criminal silence!

Me

Had an interesting exchange on Atlantic’s Rockets Over Israel and Gaza. Our shortsightedness is the only reason why we live in conflicts, why we let conflicts take better of us and why we will never get out of them.

But hey look at the bright side, I got equal number of likes!

As it happened: Huge airstrike in Gaza

I really pray that not even children of the Zionists have to live under such a traumatising environment. Can you imagine having 40km long and 10km wide area with 1.6m people living under such terror? I hear “never again” a lot from Israeli apologists but imagine if that is what Holocaust did to them, what will this do to the Palestinians?

Let’s be honest, even I look like an idiot proposing peace with Israel after what they do every few months with those common Palestinians. As for the US moral superiority, Whitehouse’s spokesperson just keep on bringing it to the lowest level possible.

Me. I think I am going to hold off that “neutral” ME piece for now.

Of course, no media source would report on this.

I can’t find a proper news article on this! Been searching for hours. Shame.

my add: If this is true then it is just STUPID! If he had so much disgust at what Israeli forces do in Occupied Palestine, he should have beaten this IAF swimmer in the game and then while standing on the podium with a gold medal in his hand should have told the world why his winning was very important!

I am not even sure if this above incident is true, but if it is - it is just plain STUPID!

Avi confiscates water containers that serve hundreds of Palestinian and Bedouin families living in the Jordan Valley.

The containers are these people’s only water source. In recent weeks, Avi has confiscated about a dozen containers, leaving dozens of families with children in the horrific Jordan Valley heat, to go thirsty.

The forms he takes pains to complete, in spiffy style, say: “There is reason to suspect they used the above merchandise for carrying out an offense.” Avi’s bosses claim the “offense” is stealing water from a pipe. This is why the containers are seized - with no inquiry, no trial. Welcome to the land of lawlessness and evil. Welcome to the land of apartheid. Israel does not permit thousands of these wretched people to hook up to the water pipes. This water is for Jews only. Even the greatest Israeli propagandists could not deny the nationalist, diabolical separation taking place here. (Complete Article, via soupsoup)

If you talk to God, it’s called praying; if God talks to you, you’re nuts. In Jerusalem, God seems to be particularly chatty… (complete article, via tetw)

You talk of inqilab, don’t you?

You talk of a state of romantic helplessness which you should get over with in your mid-teens but if you are still not past that stage and still have the urge for it; probably you should hope to get rid of it soon.

No revolution is without blood, grave losses and unexpected circumstances. It is a call for chaos which you hope will bring an order you prefer. But it is nothing more than an uncontrolled detonation, once you light the fuse there is no way you can control the complex chemical reactions which will precede.

You wonder if you can probably measure the separation between two trajectories using the beautiful mathematical equations like \lambda from  | \delta\mathbf{Z}(t) | \approx e^{\lambda t} | \delta \mathbf{Z}_0 | \,  or more commonly called Lyapunov exponent - but no, that is not how it works.

Stop chasing utopia my friend, let’s talk about something better. Anarchy might look surreal to you because you have been fighting the system for too long. But remember that is how you were with your parents when you hit puberty. Once your body learned to deal with these wonderful new hormones you mellowed down.

You are still young, you got passion in your veins, let’s actually construct something you can be proud of - instead of taking everything down.

That father and his two sons, and that little girl below them…these are the four Jewish victims of the shooting in Toulouse, France on Monday. Rabbi Yonatan Sandler was a columnist in a local Jewish newspaper and a teacher at Ozar HaTorah, a Jewish elementary school in Toulouse, and his two sons, Gabriel (3) and Aryeh (6), as well as Miriam Monsonego (8), were students there.

When Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu visited Rabbi Sandler’s widow as she sat Shiv’a for her husband and two children, he said afterwards the following.

“I saw the depth of the grief and pain of a young mother who is feeding a baby, who lost her husband and two of her little children, the agony of a life cut short and hope which was crushed, and I think to myself: what cruelty, what barbarity can cause a man to do an act which is so inhumane. For these murderers, wherever a Jew walks, every centimeter of land he walks on, is occupied territory. From their perspective, Jews have no place in the world. They want to murder Jews wherever they are, and for that reason the state of Israel was established.”

And people say that antisemitism isn’t prevalent today.

I mean, I’m not a whole-hearted supporter of Israel. They’ve done some horrible things too of course, but the issue isn’t all black and white and this incident is incredibly sad.

Last night I posted that Pakistan is an expert at killing Palestinians, a few people asked me to explain my words. Here is a reply that I wrote to one of my friends:

Pakistan Army helped train and direct the Jordanian army in its brutal repression of the Palestinian leadership which was…

my add: I haven’t read anything like this in a long time which gets so much misdirected after just two good paragraphs. Not in a mood to write a long reply after writing a zillion policy papers here are few points you might want to work on:

  1. No objection on the first two paras. But you might want to remind yourself on 90,000 Palestinians expelled from Kuwait in a week or general treatment of Palestinians around the Arab world where they are considered nothing more than leech and opportunists. It is only using them as a rallying point for hate towards Israelis/Jews/Zionists that makes Arab world give a hoot about Palestine.
  2. Pakistan fought alongside Arabs in the 6 Day War and then Yom Kippur War against Israel. Pakistani pilots flew sorties and combat missions against Israel where they were so much lethal that not only Arabs gave them high awards of gallantry but even Israeli Air Chief is on record saying that if they had one Nur Khan, Arabs stood no chance at all.
  3. If you are trying to equate India with Palestine, I have no clue what to make of it!
  4. Arming of Afghan Mujhaideen during Soviet Invasion with help of Israel? The closest Pakistan came to this was thanks to the film “Charlie Wilson’s War” which also just shows Arabs buying weapons from Israelis to be later sent to Pakistan for transfer to Afghanistan. But problem with all this is that in today’s Pakistan where thanks to this mess of Afghan wars is littered with Soviet weapons, we do not have any Israeli Uzis lying around! Which should be more than enough to invalidate your highly ill-formed hypothesis. This you would have known if you had any real experience of Pakistani dynamics apart from “articles” available on conspiracy blogs.
  5. Mossad at no time had any “permanent” presence in Pakistan. If Afghan Jihad did anything, it radicalised the Pakistani society making it next to impossible for any Government in Islamabad to have anything to do with Israelis. This was only recently tested when Musharaf tried to make at least civil contact with Israelis, which backfired in the worst possible way.
  6. At no time Israelis, trained Afghan Mujhahideen! I am actually now feeling a little bad responding to all these baseless conspiracy theories which interestingly no one has even put up before! (another indicator of how preposterous this is)
  7. Pakistan transferred Soviet technology to Israel? Seriously? Is this a sarcasm piece or what? Do you know the demography of Israel? How many of the Israeli citizens even today are of Russian descent? Even today one of the largest number of migrants to Israel under the RIGHT TO RETURN program are those who are either Russians or are from Eastern Europe (ex-CCCP).
  8. Pakistan destroyed Arab Nationalism? The country which has spent 70s-80s trying to act all Arab killed that same Nationalism?

I am sorry but as I said earlier, I haven’t read a more wrong analysis in a long time - and if this was not a sarcasm piece, I am just amazed at myself for stopping by to respond to this!

And since we are on this topic anyway, you might want to check how it was Israel expediting those directional fire radars to India during the Kargil conflict which tipped the balance of war in India’s favour.

Lacoste Prize cancelled amid censorship row

A Swiss art prize worth 25,000 euros (£21,000) has been cancelled amid controversy the organisers censored one of the nominees.

Jerusalem-born artist Larissa Sansour claims she was taken off the shortlist for being “too pro-Palestinian”.

The Elysee Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland said it was the prize’s sponsors, clothing company Lacoste, who decided to exclude Sansour. (news)

From Artist’s website:

The Nation Estate project is a sci-fi photo series conceived in the wake of the Palestinian bid for nationhood at the UN. Three preliminary sketches have been developed especially for the Lacoste Elysée Prize 2011 - an award I was nominated for until Lacoste decided to censor my work and revoke my nomination.

Set within a grim piece of hi-tech architecture, this narrative photo series envisions ‘la joie de vivre’ of a Palestinian state rising from the ashes of the peace process. In this dystopic vision, Palestinians have their state in the form of a single skyscraper: the Nation Estate. Surrounded by a concrete wall, this colossal hi-rise houses the entire Palestinian population - finally living the high life. Each city has its own floor: Jerusalem, third floor; Ramallah, fourth floor. Intercity trips previously marred by checkpoints are now made by elevator.

Aiming for a sense of belonging, the lobby of each floor reenacts iconic squares and landmarks - elevator doors on the Jerusalem floor opening onto a full-scale Dome of the Rock. Built ouside the actual city of Jerusalem, the building also has views of the original golden dome from the top floors. The Nation Estate project consists of 8-10 large-format photos. It is scheduled for production in early 2012.

In addition to the photo series, a sci-fi video version of Nation Estate is currently in production. (her official website)

eretzyisrael:

Channel 2 news reporter in Israel needs to take cover from violent protests that were supposed to be peaceful.

My Add: This is very interesting and I wish to highlight some very interesting moments from the shared clip.

The reason for sharing the clip by the original poster is to prove that Palestinians are not “peacefully” protesting - which is a bullock argument anyway so not getting on that for long. Kindly enjoy the following:

1. Ruse & Brutality: At nearly 00:03 till 00:10 you can see three Israeli IDF soldiers dressed up like Civilians and carrying 9mm pistols dragging a Palestinian protester away. While dragging away you can see them clearly jumping on and punching the guy in his face while another IDF soldier in his uniform can be seen drawing a rifle in the back. This is quickly cut by the broadcaster. How “Western”, “Democratic” and “Unique in Middle East” action is it of a security force to infiltrate protesters in plain clothes, incite them and then arrest them? Also note, not only arrest them but also beat the crap out of them on the street in the plain view of the cameras and then get away with it?

2. Props: Notice the gas mask in the green crate on back of the presenter at 1:17 - just keep it in mind will return to it shortly.

3. Drama: Presenter ducks to show that he is under threat from the stone throwing Palestinian youth (classic David & Goliath moment again) but interestingly the cameraman never feels in danger to unmount his camera and get on the ground level! Why? It is also not that the cameraman has left the camera for cover, he can be seen panning and zooming camera through out the report. In fact if it is so dangerous than why the youth which repeatedly comes close to the reporter at (like at 2:31) never threatened the reporter or the camera crew?

4. Dramatisation: To show how dangerous it is - the cameraman takes a side shot while a helper brings a gas mask at 3:26 to the reporter which if you remember from point#2 was already just over head in the green craye! Now that is how you make a case after you throw tear gas at someone else protesting for their basic Human Right of a life of dignity.

For G-d’s sake spare us from the Zionist propaganda, or at least stop trying to so hard that in desperation you make such childish mistakes and arguments!

Tears of joy as Mahmoud Abbas makes his historic speech at United Nations Security Council for Statehood of Palestine.

As his speech ended, reports said those listening in the West Bank shouted: “With our souls, with our blood, we will defend you, Palestine!”
