Timelapse: Lahore to Islamabad via GT Road with some retro music
Drove from Lahore to Islamabad on 17th Feb 2012, and decided to take the historic Grand Trunk Road with a Canon 7D mounted in the back and some retro Pakistani music from late 60s to complement that.
I would probably end up using this in some larger project later, but for now - enjoy!

Ladies and gentlemen, finally I am ready to share my first music video with you. I know I could do things different, but it was a pretty spontaneous shoot. Looking forward to your comments and critique.

Photojournalism: Spirituality in death
On 14th January I covered 968th death anniversary of Sufi Saint Abul Hassan Ali Hajvery also known as Data Gunj Baksh in Lahore, Pakistan. Here are some pictures from the day. You can check the complete set on my Flickr here.
I also shot some clips there which I am using in a music video for an extremely talented musician from Islamabad. Will be sharing that with public by end of this week!
Oh you people from Birmingham, which language do you speak in?!?!
Me being confused at gym!
Just went through an Asian Development Bank report on Rapid Transport System for Lahore and came to know some very disturbing facts.
- There are over 300 katchi abadis (slums or basic unplanned brick-mortar housing areas) which hold 50% of all Urban Lahore population.
- 35-50% of people in Lahore are classified as poor.
- Majority of those Katchi Abadi dwellers are below poverty line.
That is some serious irregular distribution of wealth!
To compare Lahore in GDP with a city you might be living in, you can check these stats here and for area wise stats click here.
To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
Going back from funeral of a very kind and humble man.
Thank God for the overwhelmingly large number of “pot belly Uncles” at gym, now I don’t have to feel embarrassed at all! Pakistan zindabad!
Me (mobile)
Yesterday I accompanied Uzair to shops so I can help him look for a new camera. Apart from the fact that the salesman treated me like I am a total noob at photography and that Uzair thoroughly enjoyed this treatment, I realised how much I haven’t been taking care of myself! What happened was that this “over-efficient” salesman took a picture of me to prove there are no grains in the final image, but when I looked at myself it suddenly dawned on me that I look like a bear caught in the wild! So yes I came back home picked up my trimmer and fixed my beard.
Keeping true to the spirit ignited in me last night I also joined a gym tonight and got myself a trainer who after a detailed analysis gave me a compliment by telling me that currently I have ZERO Stamina! Now on his advise I have to get myself on a tight 5 days a week routine, also might get an appointment with the gym’s Dietitian to get back in shape (will only listen to her if she doesn’t make me get on Broccoli soup).
Too much realisation for 48 hours!
Well they are putting tough tiles on the road in the housing society I live at in Lahore. They look and feel nice, but my only two concerns are how will they fare under load of trucks (or they will have to regulate them at entrances) and how will they stop those underage drivers from speeding on them when there will be no more speed breakers.
At least one good thing I see is that these workers are wearing workers’ gloves - quite an achievement in a place where labour safety is an unheard phenomena. (mobile)
Shooting at Data’s Urs in Lahore with Aun after quite an interesting Exchange with the officials. (mobile)

How the hell do you justify a small ribbon cable (which looks something like this) which you refer to as Spiral Cable and is less than 10 inch long for 16,000 Rupees? Like seriously!
I think I can survive a few more days without my Airbag and horn working. Will try to get an OEM part now.
PFDC L’Oréal Bridal Week 2011: Rouge Collection
From the PFDC L’Oréal Bridal Week 2011 (20/12/2011), Lahore. Couldn’t get the best angle thanks to incredible amount of bad guest management, shot these with Sony NEX-5D. You can see rest of the photos in the Flickr set.
*not my best work
Sitting out in Sun reading “Marxism and other Western Fallacies” by the great Persian philosopher Ali Shari’ati. Am only few pages in but am really enjoying myself. This is also by the way a prime example of highly intelligent literature published posthumous with a completely retarded preface. I have never read a more horrendous apology for Iran’s Islamic revolution and the excesses they committed shortly being in power. (mobile)
