11:45 pm // heart broken and snow in Glasgow
I don’t want to write too much about it publicly since I value his privacy a lot, but someone very close to me is heartbroken for the first time in his life. He liked this girl and she liked him. They both are doing their undergrad together and they both follow same religion (i.e. Islam) even, but they do not follow the same sect. Her folks do not believe in marrying outside their sect so...

11:57 pm // Scottish dance
Okay so this officially goes in my list of ‘pretty embarrassing’ moments but yes on the bright side it was fun.
Yesterday after the Annual ball I got my first ever attempt at Scottish dance. Really ball room dancing is one thing (for record I am the man with two left feet!) but this one…aham! I seriously need some serious coaching in this one. But yes this did further reinforce...

11:07 pm // imported "son in-law"
So today I got to hear from this old man how he imported a husband for one his daughters who was born and raised in UK from Pakistan. This guy not educated at all (well his daughter didn’t do well at studies too for that matter) and from a poor family was imported with a desire that he will remain indebted to the family and will stay loyal with them.
Anyway cutting the whole story short, he...

Britain expels Israeli diplomat over Dubai... →
Analysis by Tim Franks, BBC News, Jerusalem:
“Regret” is the official Israeli emotion, not anger, not surprise, and certainly not retribution.
There is a clear Israeli desire to dampen this argument down from one where it could damage the wider relationship.
“It doesn’t look good,” was the terse verdict of one former senior diplomat. Other sources suggested this...

12:00 am // Saladin, King Richard and long hair
Just for unknown reason feel like writing about Saladin.
King Richard once had to meet Saladin at his camp in the desert. As Richard was about to enter the tent Saladin’s little child saw him and started to cry. Richard smiled and said, “so Saladin your son got scared of an European”. To which Saladin replied, “no, actually he has never seen a man without beard...

Leader of Swiss Minaret Ban Converts to Islam -... →
almas88:
This is old news, but I only learned about it recently. I was shocked!
The recent passage of a ban on the construction of minarets in Switzerland has a very interesting side story. A member of the political party that pushed for the minaret ban announced that he had become a Muslim. Outside of Switzerland, the mainstream media has ignored this. Muslims around the world, however, have...

Kidnapped British boy Sahil Saeed returns home →
They are said to be part of an international gang which allegedly demanded a ransom of €87,000 (£79,000).
Under close watch by police, Sahil’s uncle travelled to Paris to hand over the ransom which had been raised by desperate relatives of the child.
The handover took place in the centre of the city, where a man and a woman put the cash in a small bag and a travelling case and drove off.
